The Canadian Rockies with their mountains, national parks, wilderness areas and picturesque towns and villages, beckon you to the province of Alberta.

 

 

Travel options abound – including the luxurious Rocky Mountaineer train to Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff or Calgary – comfortable long-distance coach services - or self-drive by car or RV (camper van).

 

Once there…

 

  • Like most of Canada, Jasper is built on the outdoor experience with year-round opportunities to enjoy the outdoors – in Winter influenced by snow and ice with dog sledding, skiing and snow shoeing among the options. In Summer, the Jasper Skytram or a wildlife tour will show you another side of Canada

 

  • The Icefields Parkway that links Jasper and Banff is rated as one of the world’s most scenic highways. Stop along the way at the Columbia Icefields Centre and take an escorted tour onto the Athabasca Glacier

 

  • High in the Rockies, Banff is the gateway point for the Banff National Park – Canada’s first national park and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Winter or Summer, there are attractions and experiences for all travelers

 

  • Calgary is truly a commercial centre, but there’s one annual event that captures the imagination of visitors from around the world – the Calgary Stampede. Tagged “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” each July it celebrates the cowboy culture over a 10-day festival that includes rodeo, chuckwagon racing, concerts, an amusement park and many other attractions
