# The Eastern Provinces. History along the St Lawrence.

On the shores of the Great Lakes, close to the United States border, Toronto is Canada’s most populous city, its skyline dominated by the CN Tower. Québec City, a fortified city on the banks of the St Lawrence River, was founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1608. Its colonial core, Vieux-Québec, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, watched over by the beautiful Château Frontenac hotel.

## The Houses of Parliament

Canada’s Parliament buildings stand majestically above the Ottawa River in the nation’s capital.

## Old Québec

The historic old city of Québec comes alive with artists and street-side vendors along its cobblestones.

## Niagara Falls

The Canadian Horseshoe Falls are impressive by day, and come alive again at night, lit up in colour.

## Casa Loma

High on a hill in midtown Toronto, Casa Loma is a castle-like mansion with a great story behind it.

## St Lawrence Market

Housed in its historic building, the market offers an array of culinary delights, with a food hall downstairs.

## Front Street, Toronto

The CN Tower, soaring more than 550 metres, dominates Toronto’s skyline, and summer brings al fresco dining where you can soak up the city scene.
